A Guide for Education in Canada

If you have a goal of studying in Canada, before deciding exactly, you need to answer some important questions: Which colleges or universities should you consider? How much money do you need to study in Canada? Is your program offered in the city where you expect to study?

There are endless possibilities when it comes to finding a training program in Canada. You can study a large number of courses in Canada, including architecture and design, business and marketing, dentistry, education, engineering, finance, information technology, law, mathematics, medicine, nursing, science, sustainable technologies.

Visa

To study in Canada, you will need to obtain a Canadian work permit, which also serves as a Canadian student visa during your stay. However, if your course or program lasts six months or less, you do not need a Canadian work permit.

Canadian Education System

The Canadian education system includes both publicly funded and private schools, including public colleges / technical institutes, career colleges, language schools, secondary schools, summer camps, universities and college colleges. Primary and secondary education lasts 11 or 12 years depending on the city.

Tuition Fees

It's cheaper than you might think you read in Canada. In the case of post-secondary education, tuition fees are generally lower than at colleges and universities in Australia, the UK and the United States.

Universities in Canada determine their fees and these vary depending on a number of factors: which program you study, whether you are an international/indigenous student or undergraduate or postgraduate education.

The average tuition fees for international undergraduate students in the 2019-2020 academic year are approximately US $ 22,500 per year. The departments of social sciences are generally cheaper: about $ 5,542. Engineering, medicine, and dentistry are more expensive: between 10,000 and 16,000 USD.

If you want to study at the graduate level, tuition fees are usually lower and again vary depending on your program. In Canada, the average postgraduate tuition for international students in the 2019-2020 academic year is approximately US $ 15,000.

Scholarships and Exchange Programs

Every student who wants to study abroad asks “How can I get a scholarship?”. To be frank, there are millions of native Canadians who want to apply to the university, and the funding for international students is very limited. However, your chances of getting a scholarship are not too low. With good research and wise choices, you can get a scholarship to study in Canada.

Living in Canada

Nearly 500,000 international students come to Canada each year for university studies. Thousands more are coming to go to primary and secondary education, exchange programs or language school. Canada is a centre of attraction for students.

For an international student, US $ 10,000 per year will be sufficient in Canada, excluding tuition fees.

Accommodation is one of the biggest costs after tuition fees. Normally, students first turn to on-campus accommodation options. However, admission to the school does not automatically mean that you can find a room in the dormitories on campus. You must apply in advance.

Another possibility is to stay in a student house off-campus. One of the best-known options in this category is the Evo Residence in Montreal (Quebec). Here, undergraduate students can find all-inclusive accommodation and have a heated indoor pool, games room, 24-hour gym, fitness and yoga studio. Students can also make use of Evo Residence's library and business centre, lounges, kitchens, theatre room, laundry facilities and restaurants.

Finally, some international students choose to stay in an off-campus apartment. Rents vary by city, neighbourhood and accommodation type. Students who are considering renting a house should consider possible additional fees such as the internet, cable tv, electricity and heating.
